Privacy

Tic Tic Boom is designed with your privacy in mind. Here's exactly what the app does and doesn't do.

Camera & Video Processing

All video processing happens entirely on your device. Your camera feed is analyzed in real time using Apple's built-in Vision framework to detect face and hand positions — only abstract geometry (bounding boxes and joint coordinates) is used. No images, video frames, or biometric data are ever stored, recorded, or transmitted. Each frame is discarded immediately after processing.

Network & Data Collection

The app connects to the internet for license verification when you enter an activation code. It also collects anonymous telemetry about app usage and events (e.g. feature usage, session counts) to help us improve the app. This telemetry contains no personal information, no camera data, and nothing that can identify you. No images, video, or biometric data are ever transmitted.

What's Stored on Your Device

The only data saved locally is your preferences (sensitivity, theme) and daily face-touch counts. No images, video, or identifying information is stored. All data lives in standard macOS preferences and stays on your Mac.

How Detection Works

The app uses Apple's on-device machine learning models to detect whether your hand is near your face. It does not perform facial recognition, identify individuals, or build any kind of biometric profile. The detection is limited to two simple questions: "Is there a face?" and "Are hand joints overlapping the face region?"
